There are a more than a handful of titles in my Steam library which I have no recollection on how or when I acquired them. But I know that I've played them all, though only a short time in some cases. As for VNs, Visual Novels, most of them were of the sort where one doesn't play them so much as just read them.
One such title is "Ame no Marginal". I suspect that I picked it up for free or for a small price. If I had paid for it, it probabaly was on sale. I know I've gone through the whole thing once but I don't remember enough of it to be able to give a synopsis.
What I do remember is the reader is drawn into the story's world through an elevator. The reader takes on the point of view of a character who for one reason or another chooses to remain in that world in spite of being told they will have to leave by the sole resident of that world...or perhaps not. The thing to keep in mind here is that the world where the characters reside is one outside of normal time and space. It rains constantly, odd scraps of old things pop up along a river, there is a large hole where the water exits, and the aforementioned elevator.
I went out and checked on another website to find out more about this VN. That's when I uncovered the significane of the above image. The building this elevator is in has seven floors, not eight. Selecting the eighth floor transports the reader into the rain world.
Somewhere along the line another character is introduced but I don't remember a single thing about them.
And like I said before, in this world it just keeps raining...endlessly.
Even looking at one of the game's menus doesn't help jog my memory....
It appears from the way it is laid out there is some branching of the storyline but it all ties up with a common ending. I read in a review of the game that there is some switching of points of view. But I have no recollection of that.
I don't think I spent more than two hours on this VN. I remember a few things about the end of the VN but I find that it's best not to reveal anything about it. That's just the way it is....
