I will eventually finish this kit...just not now....😂
Anyways, after my previous mystery part episode I took a second look at an odd looking piece of scrap plastic in the parts box. I held it up to the ship and sure enough I found I had another mystery part on my hands. But this one I couldn't affix to the kit since the spots where it would fit have been blocked off by the plastic card I put in place to keep the deck flat.
This time I detached the two fin like pieces at the end of the big piece. I cut a sliver off of each one and placed them in two slots in the deck where they had been designed to fit.
A little later I found the missing part of the stern mystery piece. I shaved a sliver off of it and delicately placed it in the slot in the fantail deck.
One other task I completed around this time was to assemble the ship's main armament turrets.
Next up was my attempt to dust the remaining major pieces with some paint courtesy of my Badger 350 airbrush. I placed the pieces on a strip of masking tape attached to a corrugated cardboard sheet and then went to work. This time the temperature outside was a touch warmer and I had less problems with the air brush propellant.
So here is where I've gotten to today....
I set the forward gun turret aside as its barrels had drooped a bit. I added a bit of extra glue to their bases and then placed it sitting upright resting against a jar of paint. I'm going to glue it to the ship tomorrow.
