Got Off Lightly...

I was with a group of friends on Saturday afternoon.  We were at the Yonezawa Bowling Lanes and had just finished a four game session.  Just as we had all finished paying, all our phones went alarm.  It was the emergency notification system advising us to brace for a strong earthquake.  After the strong one last month I think we were all expecting another violent one.  What happened next was totally different; there was no violent shock, no floor shifting sideways shaking....  Instead the building appeared to absorb a lot of the shock.  A few trophies fell over in the trophy cabinet.  The building sort of rolled like a large ship absorbing a wave.  That was it.

The official measurement for the Okitama region was a 4.  It was a 7 at the epicentre off the coast of Miyagi prefecture and Sendai got a severe shaking.   Compared to the previous one off the coast of Fukushima prefecture, we got off light this time....
