Paddler with No Water (Blog II)

Ex-paddler and ex-pat Canuck currently living in Japan. This blog is a continuation of a similarly named blog I have on another blog platform.

High Scores....

A friend from out of town dropped in for the weekend so I hauled him and a mutual friend over to one of his old watering holes on Saturday night.  Our mutual friend had had their birthday back in February and the bar owner was kind enough to gift a bottle of shochu as a belated birthday present.  They had to call it an early night so the two of us who were left switched over to my bottle of Yamazaki whiskey.

This all happened after the session of bowling and the earthquake.  During the course of the night the patrons of the bar challenged themselves in an attempt to rack up a decent score against the bar owner's score of 99.913 in the monthly karaoke competition.  I picked one of old favourites to sing before calling it a night...and seemed to manage to hit most of the notes right...

Yes, that is an somewhat eclectic collection of songs which I tackled that night.  The top entry is "Yume no Tochu", originally recorded by Kisugi Takao.

Today was my usual lunch and bowling routine.  I was at the cafe chatting up my visiting friend and another friend for a while so I got to the lanes around 3pm.  I've been working on putting a spin on the ball when I release it but so far haven't had any success.  Today, I sort of regressed.  My first two games didn't look good score wise and my technique was a bit of a mess.

In my final game today I slowed down my downswing...and then things started to look better, much better....

On the day I had 19 open frames and only 4 of them were in the last game.  The goal from here on is gain some consistency.  Now if I could only get the ball to hook....
