Yesterday turned out to be a longer day at the local bowling lanes than I had planned on initially. I was on my way to the lanes to do my typical three practice games when I noticed I had a new message on LINE from a friend asking for my phone number. The fellow at the bowling lane had written down my phone number incorrectly and he wanted to contact me since the bowling balls I had ordered last week had arrived.
Upon arrival at the lanes, the shop pro motioned me to follow him. He jokingly asked how my Japanese was as he headed downstairs to his workshop. I guess word of me has gotten around the place, eh? Nonetheless, in about 15 minutes I was back upstairs ready to try out a new pair of bowling balls.
The big drill ready to drill out the thumb hole....
As it turned out, I put in six games that day. As I was finishing my first set of three games, the resident bowling coach mentioned that a friend was on her way down and asked if I was going to bowl with her. I sent her a message and we ended bowling a set of three games side by side.
The interesting thing about my new personal balls is that they don't feel that heavy when I'm bowling with them. I've used 13lb and 14lb house balls in the past and gnerally had to hold onto them for dear life so that I didn't drop them at my feet midswing. My personal bowling balls are 15lbs each. Yet my initial feel for them was that they were as easy to handle as a house 11lb ball. Their combined weight definitely was noticeable when I had them both in their carrying case and I lugged it downstairs to place them in my locker....
